Welcome

As a matter of brief introduction, my name is John Wheaton. This site contains professional, hobby, and interest information related to the ideas embodied by the icons of "tech"[nology] and "steel". These icons represent the computerized world (the virtual world) and the physical world, repectively. Daily our lives cross these lines with regularity and that raises many great ideas about ethics, practicality, innovation, and curiosity.

Skills and Experience

I am a software engineer by trade, and a computer ethicist out of conscience. I intend to track my thoughts on the latter in my blog; a philosophy is always an ongoing exploration.

In my measurable experience, I am versed in EMC|Documentum's ECM technologies. I am proficient in Java as well as architecting ECM solutions in a full "front to back" approach starting with business requirements gathering and concluding with installation, training and solution support. My resume can be found under my Expertise area.

In the model of "Tech & Steel", scoping, designing, building, and supporting any computer-based solution needs to include an understanding of the interplay between the real and the virtual, person and computer.

Hobbies & Interests

I will build up this information gradually as I find the best way to present the information as part of a website.
